How to add text to an image

  1. Add your image

Drop in a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF. A first text box appears in the middle, ready to edit.

  2. Write and style

Type your text, pick a font, size and colour, and drag it into place. Add as many text boxes as you need.

  3. Download

Choose the format and download. The text is drawn into the image exactly where you placed it.

Questions about adding text

How do I make text readable on a busy photo?

Turn on Background box for a solid or see-through panel behind the text, or Outline for a contrasting edge around each letter. White text with a dark outline works on almost any picture.

Can I add text to pieces of a split image?

Yes. In the image splitter, select a crop or tile and add text to just that piece; it is drawn into that piece's file only.

Which fonts can I use?

Inter, Montserrat, Playfair Display, Oswald, Bebas Neue and Caveat. They are open-licence fonts served from this site, so they work the same on every computer.

Can I edit the text after downloading?

No. The download is a normal image with the text drawn in. Keep this page open to make changes, then download again; undo and redo work while you edit.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image and text are drawn in your browser, on your device. See the privacy page.
