Light, Balanced or Strong. Balanced suits most images; Strong gives the smallest files.
Check the before-and-after view and the measured saving for each image, then download them one by one or as a ZIP.
It depends on the image. Large photos saved at high quality often shrink a lot; images that are already compressed may barely change. The tool measures the real file it creates, so the saving shown is exact, not an estimate.
Not in the same format. If an image is already so well compressed that nothing smaller is possible, the tool gives you back your original file and marks it “Original kept”. Changing format (for example PNG to JPG) can occasionally give a larger file; the result always shows the real size.
At Light, every pixel is kept exactly and the file is stored more efficiently. At Balanced and Strong, the number of colours is reduced (256 or 128), which usually shrinks screenshots and graphics a lot with little visible change. Photos saved as PNG get much smaller as JPG or WebP, or with the resizer.
PNG and WebP keep it. JPEG can't store transparency, so if you choose JPEG you pick a colour for any transparent areas; nothing is converted without telling you.
No. Compressed files don't include camera details or location data (EXIF). Photos are rotated the right way up first.
