How to convert an image

  1. Add your images

JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF. The tool reads each file's real format, even if its name says otherwise.

  2. Choose the new format

JPEG for photos, PNG for exact pixels and transparency, WebP for small files with transparency.

  3. Convert and download

Each file gets the right extension for its new format. Download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Which conversions are supported?

FromToNotes
JPEG, PNG, WebPJPEG, PNG, WebPWebP output needs a browser that can create WebP; if yours can't, the option is switched off.
GIFJPEG, PNG, WebPFirst frame only; animation is not kept.

HEIC (iPhone photos), AVIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are not supported yet. Most phones can share photos as JPEG instead.

Questions about converting

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPEG can't, so when you convert to JPEG you choose the colour that fills transparent areas (white by default).

Will the converted image look exactly the same?

Converting to PNG keeps every pixel. JPEG and WebP use lossy compression, so very fine detail can change slightly; a higher quality keeps more. Colours are saved in standard sRGB, and camera data (EXIF) isn't copied.

Can I convert animated GIFs?

Only the first frame is converted. The result is a still image.

Can I also make the file smaller or change its size?

Yes: the compressor focuses on file size and shows the saving, and the resizer changes the width and height.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser, on your device. See the privacy page.
