How to make a panorama carousel

  1. Make the photo the right width

For 3 tall slides, make the photo 3240 × 1440 pixels with Crop to fill in the image resizer. The table below has other sizes.

  2. Add it here

It opens split into 3 slides. For 2 or 4 slides, type the number under Columns and click Apply grid.

  3. Download and post

Click Download all as ZIP. In Instagram, start one post, select the files in order (a, b, c) and share. Each swipe moves on to the next part of the picture.

Sizes for a seamless carousel

Instagram shares photos up to 1080 pixels wide and keeps their shape between 1.91:1 and 3:4 (Help Centre, checked 21 October 2026). Make every slide 1080 wide and the same height:

SlidesEach slideSlide sizeWhole photo
33:4 (tallest)1080 × 14403240 × 1440
34:51080 × 13503240 × 1350
31:1 (square)1080 × 10803240 × 1080
23:41080 × 14402160 × 1440
43:41080 × 14404320 × 1440

Smaller photos work too, as long as the shape is right: a 1620 × 720 photo gives three slides of 540 × 720.

Carousel questions

How is this different from a profile grid?

A carousel is one post with several slides that people swipe through. A profile grid is several separate posts that form one picture on your profile; for that, use the Instagram grid maker.

In which order do I add the slides?

In normal order: a, b, c, from left to right. Only profile grids are posted in reverse.

Why is there a gap or a jump between slides?

The slides probably aren't all the same size, or Instagram cropped them. Keep every slide 1080 wide with the same height, between 1.91:1 and 3:4, and check the sizes in the Regions list before you download.

Can a banner run across more slides?

Yes. Type the number of slides under Columns (keep Rows at 1) and make the photo 1080 pixels wide for each slide.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is opened and split in your browser, on your device. See the privacy page.
