How to change an image's aspect ratio

  1. Add your images

JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 20 at once, in any mix of shapes.

  2. Choose the shape

Click a ratio such as 16:9 or 4:5. Crop to fill keeps the largest part of each image with that shape; drag the frame in the preview to choose which part. Fit inside keeps the whole image and adds borders.

  3. Resize and download

Each image keeps its own resolution: only its shape changes. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.

Common aspect ratios

The ratio is width to height: 16:9 is 16 units wide for every 9 units tall. Typical uses:

RatioTypical use
16:9Widescreen: YouTube thumbnails, TVs, slides
3:2Photos from many cameras, and prints
4:3Photos from most phones, classic screens
1:1Square posts and profile pictures
4:5Tall feed posts
3:4Taller feed posts and the Instagram profile grid
2:3Tall pins and posters
9:16Stories, Reels and other full-screen phone formats

Need an exact size in pixels as well, such as 1080 × 1350? Use the image resizer, which also has presets.

Aspect ratio questions

Will my image be stretched?

Never. Crop to fill cuts off what doesn't fit the shape, and Fit inside adds borders instead. Pick the colour of the borders, or make them transparent for PNG and WebP.

Does changing the ratio lower the quality?

No. The image isn't scaled, so the part you keep has exactly its original pixels. It's then saved in the format you choose.

Can I choose which part of the picture is kept?

Yes. With Crop to fill, open the preview of an image and drag the frame, or zoom in to keep a smaller part.

How do I get an exact size such as 1920 × 1080?

Change the ratio here first, or go straight to the image resizer: unlock the proportions, type both numbers, and it crops to fill the same way.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. See the privacy page.
